Day #80-Fort Stevens State Park

We decided to go to the wreck of the Peter Iredale for our photo shoot because it was close to where we were camped and actually is on the Pacific Ocean! Yea I know we’re not actually touching the water in the photo.  There was a Bald Eagle overseeing the entire production!

It was weird not packing up to ride somewhere.  We did ride to Starbucks to take advantage of their WiFi! We may ride to the Lewis and Clark National Historic Park which is close.

Happy 4th everyone.  I expected wonderful experiences. Biking the country put me in touch with it all in a way I don’t think I could get any other way.  The vulnerability of biking made it all the more intense.  If you find the thought of cycling across the country hard to comprehend, I’m with you.

Just saw that on this day 19 years ago Steve won the Long Beach 3 mile. You guys better get home so he can start training for the 20th anniversary of his historic run.

Congratulations Tom and Steve. My name is Ken Crowell and I found out about your journey from my neighbor Bob Cohen. I plan on doing the Trans America route that you just finished in 2020 and have picked up a lot of valuable information from following your blog. It has to be quite a relief now, not to have to worry about where to camp each night and constantly watching out for traffic coming up from behind on those shoulderless roads that make us cyclists cringe. Great job guys !

Thanks Ken. There’s plenty more! The blog was pretty brief for the most part. Get the maps and start dreaming! Happy to offer support if you need it. Plenty of people out here cycling all over!

Airless mattress is gone. New one arrives at home tomorrow-in case I need it!😁
